Rezūm reduces the symptoms of BPH.
Rezūm is a one-time procedure, and works by delivering very small amounts of steam to the enlarged prostate. FDA Approved in 2015, this procedure reduces prostate size and BPH symptoms like:
- Urinating more often, especially at night
- A weak urine stream
- Trouble starting the flow of urine
- Starting and stopping again when urinating
- Not emptying your bladder completely
- Sudden urges to urinate
- Leaking or dribbling after you urinate
- Straining to urinate
“It sure beats taking a pill every day. Before the treatment I was getting up every night to use the bathroom – but not anymore. That’s the biggest benefit I’ve seen.”
“The biggest change I saw was not having problems with urination, and getting the sleep I had missed for several years.”

Rezūm FAQ
How much does Rezūm cost?
Rezūm is covered by most insurances, and patient responsibility will depend on your benefits coverage. For more detailed information regarding your specific insurance, you may call our billing supervisor (Terry) at 210-582-5540.
Can any urologist perform Rezūm therapy?
Any urologist with Urology San Antonio can help determine if Rezūm is right for you and complete the tests prior to the procedure. However, the Rezūm procedure will be done by one of four physicians who received special training. They are Drs. Cantrill and Weld.
Does an enlarged prostate improve without treatment?
Early on, enlarged prostate symptoms may come and go, so taking a “wait and see” approach to mild symptoms is reasonable. Over the long-term, however, symptoms tend to get gradually worse.
If the Rezūm therapy is new, how do I know it’s safe?
The Rezūm therapy has undergone extensive clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the treatment, and was approved by the FDA in late 2015.
Is there anesthesia involved?
Rezūm is a minimally invasive procedure, and there is no need for general anesthesia. A local anesthetic will be used on the treated area, and patients can resume normal activities later that day. Doctors recommend 5 days of rest from more strenuous activities like exercise.
