Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinical Trial
Are you defined by prostate cancer?
Advanced prostate cancer can take away so much—even your ability to feel like you. But if you are eligible to be part of a clinical study, you may be able to give something back to others like you.
About
This clinical study is studying adults with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
“Metastatic” means the cancer has spread beyond the prostate to other parts of the body. “Castration-resistant” means the cancer cannot be cured by either surgery or hormone therapy.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the US and Europe and is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men worldwide. With 1.2 million new cases globally each year, researchers continue to study prostate cancer and test additional therapies.
This study is testing the drug nivolumab in combination with docetaxel (the current standard of care drug) compared to placebo in combination with docetaxel in participants with mCRPC.
A placebo is a substance that looks like the investigational drug but has no active drug in it.
If eligible, you will be assigned to a study drug group to receive either:
- Docetaxel and nivolumab as intravenous (IV) infusions (every 3 weeks for up to 10 cycles) and oral prednisone (twice daily), followed by nivolumab alone as an IV infusion (every 4 weeks for up to 2 years), OR
- Docetaxel and placebo as intravenous (IV) infusions (every 3 weeks for up to 10 cycles) and oral prednisone (twice daily), followed by placebo alone by IV infusion (every 4 weeks for up to 2 years)
To pre-qualify for this research study:
- You must be an adult male
- You must have prostate cancer that is castrationresistant, meaning it cannot be cured by either surgery or hormone therapy
- The cancer must have spread to other parts of the body (metastatic disease)
This is not a complete list of study requirements. Your doctor will review all eligibility requirements with you.
