Urology San Antonio’s Dr. LeRoy Jones is an expert sought around the world for his expertise performing this outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Apt Line: 210-582-5505″ main_heading_color=”#2d2d2d” sub_heading_color=”#8c99a9″ alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”bottom” line_height=”1″ line_color=”#0a5aaa” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans|variant:300″ main_heading_font_size=”desktop:26px;” main_heading_line_height=”desktop:28px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:10px;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans” sub_heading_font_size=”desktop:13px;” sub_heading_line_height=”desktop:21px;” main_heading_style=”font-weight:bold;” line_width=”250″ spacer_margin=”margin-top:5px;margin-bottom:12px;” margin_design_tab_text=”” sub_heading_style=”font-weight:bold;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][ultimate_heading main_heading=”How Penile Implants Work” main_heading_color=”#2d2d2d” sub_heading_color=”#8c99a9″ alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”bottom” line_height=”1″ line_color=”#0a5aaa” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans|variant:300″ main_heading_font_size=”desktop:26px;” main_heading_line_height=”desktop:28px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:10px;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans” sub_heading_font_size=”desktop:13px;” sub_heading_line_height=”desktop:21px;” main_heading_style=”font-weight:300;” line_width=”250″ spacer_margin=”margin-top:5px;margin-bottom:12px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_column_text]The inflatable penile prosthesis works by implanting two cylinders in the penis, with a pump the size of a marble in the scrotum and a saline-filled reservoir is placed in the abdomen.  All of this is done through a one-inch incision in the scrotum.

To operate the prosthesis, the user squeezes the pump to inflate the cylinders with fluid which mimics the effect of blood engorging the penis during a natural erection.  Following intercourse, a release mechanism in the pump allows the saline to flow back into the reservoir.

When deflated, the device is impossible to detect in the bedroom or locker room.[/vc_column_text][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Frequently Asked Questions” main_heading_color=”#2d2d2d” sub_heading_color=”#8c99a9″ alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”bottom” line_height=”1″ line_color=”#0a5aaa” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans|variant:300″ main_heading_font_size=”desktop:26px;” main_heading_line_height=”desktop:28px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:10px;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Open Sans|font_call:Open+Sans” sub_heading_font_size=”desktop:13px;” sub_heading_line_height=”desktop:21px;” main_heading_style=”font-weight:300;” line_width=”250″ spacer_margin=”margin-top:5px;margin-bottom:12px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_column_text]Will insurance cover a penile implant?

Many insurances will cover the cost of a penile implant if it is medically necessary (i.e. other medications and therapies have not been successful).  Insurance companies that have covered penile implants in the past include:

  • Medicare
  • WellCare
  • Aetna
  • Tricare Prime
  • Tricare Standard
  • ViaCare
  • Community First
  • United Healthcare
  • Secure Horizons
  • Allevion
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

Urology San Antonio cannot guarantee any insurance company will cover the procedure unless given written pre-authorization.  We can assist you by providing your insurance company documentation as it relates to the medical necessity of the procedure.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
